About me
I was born in South Africa to anti-apartheid activist parents from Germany and the US. Eventually we moved to Germany where I got my psychological training, but I have lived in the US, France, and China.
Coming from a diverse and bilingual background, I needed to negotiate cultural differences every day. What used to be complicated as a kid is now my expertise: I bring a culturally sensitive lens to every session with my clients.
As an adult I am in an intercultural relationship in which communication is key. Critically examining my old presumptions and embodying my grown perspective has shaped me to be the person and the therapist I am today. In my sessions, I hold the space for my clients to navigate the challenging space of interculturality and find themselves within it.
We are all unique and part of a collective (family, friends, work, societies). Being a systemic therapist means to me that I consider how you feel within the environment you live in. Together, we look at what (no longer) nurtures you and what makes you thrive.
Having worked in crisis counseling, inpatient psychiatry and outpatient psychotherapy, I bring years of experience.
Using a resource-oriented and body-based approach, I work with trauma-sensitivity. This can be acute, developmental or transgenerational trauma. In the sessions, we strengthen you and then gently guide you through the steps of trauma release.
As part of my advocacy for empowerment, I especially welcome LGBTQ+.
Being also a professionally trained and active artist, I look for creative solutions and innovative questions. Balancing mental health in creative jobs is especially challenging. My expertise “from within” enables me to foster well-being for creative individuals.
My training path has led me to these evidence-based methods, which I like to incorporate into my sessions:
Interpersonal Psychotherapy – IPT
Imaginary Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy – IRRT
Emotion Focused Therapy – EFT
Mentalization-based Therapy – MBT
Internal Family Systems – IFS
